FTP and HP3000

Postby blakeseven » Tue Jun 28, 2005 8:01 am

Has anyone achieved connection to a HP3000 machine.

I have used this product on DEC/VAX and it is a time saver, i do use it with the HP3000 but it is mainly a manual job, cut & paste.

Has anyone succesfully connected through the FTP option.

It will make editing of files so much faster and easier to manage.

Thanks

UltraEdit works fine on the 3000 with a couple of minor problems.
I can't always browse the directory and sometimes I have seen an error when I try to transfer a file. Something like "Too many parameters" but it does not keep FTP from functioning.
When setting up the account, I found that I did not need to enter anything in User Account.
I have an account passord but no user password so I assume that you'll need a password separator like a comma in the password field but I've never tried it.
One thing to remember while setting up the account, you need to use a fully qualified path in posix notation for the initial directory. If you are looking for a file other than in the initial directory then use the fully qualified posix path.
eg:/INFOSYS/PUB/MYFILE
I've never been able to get MPE dot notation to work.
