SSH/TELNET (Edit account) Terminal tab

Postby jdolan » Wed Aug 01, 2007 7:50 pm

I'm ssh'ing to a linux box where I have to edit (vi) large files on occassion.
The only way I get ssh to work correctly for me is if I type 'vt100' in the "Terminal Type" freeform box and select 'vt100' in the dropdown "Terminal Emulation" list. By work correctly I mean if I select any other parameters like Linux, etc. I can edit the files with vi OK, but when I try to do use the down/up arrow keys to navigate they do not work.

Also when I use the vt100/vt100 parameter selections and get into vi to edit a file there is no color differences for things like comments, etc. Is there something else I can try as parameters ???

Have you tried the H, J, K, L keys to navigate?
