When I download a .java file, the file is downloaded as an UltraEdit Document. How do I avoid this?

About two weeks ago I downloaded Ultra Edit. Now when I download a .java file, it will show up as an "UltraEdit Document (.java)" as shown in this picture:

I can't use this type of file, but even when I uninstalled Ultra Edit, I still had this problem. Does anyone know how to make Ultra Edit leave my files alone? It already converted all of my old java files into Ultra Edit documents, which is extremely annoying. I would like to revert these changes as well, but if that's not possible then I would at least like to make files that I download not be converted to Ultra Edit Documents. Thanks for your time.

You have associated obviously UltraEdit as application for opening files with the extension JAVA. If this was done with UltraEdit, open in UltraEdit Advanced - Configuration - File Associations, select .java in the associations list and click on button Delete. UltraEdit removes the association of .java with uedit32.exe in Windows registry and restores previous file association.

If the file association was done with Windows Explorer, you have to reconfigure the file association of .java also with Windows Explorer under Tools - Folder Options - File Types or change the file association directly in the Windows registry using Regedit.

I can't help you with the registry values required for .java because on my computer .java is not registered at all as Sun Java is not installed. Uninstalling Sun Java and installing it again should also result in restoring the file association of .java with Sun Java.
