Windows 7 / Windows Vista security warning on start of UltraEdit

Postby JimJackson » Wed Apr 16, 2008 10:39 am

I just loaded the patch 14.00a+1. Now everytime I start UltraEdit directly or via a shortcut, I get Vista's security warning "Do you want to run this file". If I run it from a file association it works without the warning (double click on a .txt file) and if I choose UltraEdit from the right-click menu it runs without the warning.

Any ideas on how to tell Vista the program is Ok and quit asking me this question?

I have tried unchecking the checkbox "Always ask before opening this file?", setting "Run as Administrator" in properties of the shortcut and the exe itself.

I don't have Vista. But you should check the file permissions and owner of the file uedit32.exe and it's resource DLL - the 2 files you have replaced.

Thanks for responding. I checked I have full control on both files.

I just found the answer, you have to Unblock the files before you copy them into Program Files. Otherwise Vista will not unblock them.
