Open as UTF8 not working in UE v16.00

I have a file which is encoded as UTF-8. In UE 16.00, I go to File -> Open, choose Format: as 1252 (ANSI - Latin I), and Open As: as UTF-8. I click Open and the file opens. However, it appears to be displayed as ASCII and not UTF-8. The status bar says DOS. Have I found a bug?

For testing I opened a real ASCII file with option Open As set to UTF-8 with UE v16.00.0.1029. The status bar showed DOS instead of U8-DOS and the display of the text was completely wrong. Doing the same with UE v15.20.0.1026 resulted in correct indication in the status bar and correct display of ASCII file content. So there is definitely a problem with that file opening option.

I reported this problem with an email to IDM support. Because IDM support first could not reproduce it I detected on the afternoon that the problem I reported occurs only when configuration setting Detect Unicode (UTF-16 files without BOM) is unchecked at Configuration - File Handling - Unicode/UTF-8 Detection which is by default checked.

Auto-detection of UTF-8 encoded files still works as designed also in UE v16.00.0.1029.

Edited on 2010-03-22: I got beta build 16.00.0.1033 from IDM for verifying the fix of this bug and this problem is definitely solved in UltraEdit v16.00.0.1033.
