Is comparing binary files still possible with UCL v6.20+?

Postby rseiler » Thu Jun 18, 2009 3:45 pm

It's grayed out for me in 15.00.0.1047, but I know it used to work in earlier versions (possibly pre 15, but I thought since). I see that the Smart Binary feature is Pro, but there's nothing about Binary being Pro now too.

You are correct. The help file of UC Lite contains on page UltraCompare Versions the information that fast binary compare (byte-by-byte) is supported by UCL. But in UE v15.00.0.1047 this option is disabled for UCL. In UE v14.20.1.1008 (last v14.xx) the binary option is available also for UCL.

So this is either a bug in new version of UE or the feature list of UCL is not correct anymore. Please report this to IDM support by email and ask for clarification on this issue.

I asked, and they said it's been removed. Rather uncharitable, but oh well.
