Menus "fade in" slowly.

I've found that both the right-click and the standard "File".."Edit"..etc sub-menus seem to fade-in very slowly after using UltraEdit for an hour or so.

I usually deal with 7-8 files at a time, and sometimes log files which are mid-size to big (10MB).

Is there anything I can do to make the menus appear immediately?

This is a Windows XP setting - not an UltraEdit setting. Go to Settings->Control Panel->Display->Appearance->Effects and then select 'Scroll Effect' from the two options 'Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips'.
