Text Highlighting and Cursor Placement

Been using Ultraedit since the late 90's and couldn't live without it!

I recently upgraded to 12.20 and noticed a strange behavior.

If I highlight text by click-dragging the mouse, and I move to the right of the same line, if there is a horizontal scrollbar, the display scrolls to the right, as one would expect.

I also often highlight text in the reverse direction. I'll click at, say, the end of a sentence, and drag the mouse left to highlight back to the beginning.

Well, starting with this version, the horizontal scrollbar no longer drags content BACKWARDS (ie. revealing text to the left of the visible window) like it does in the other direction.

Are others experiencing this as well? Is this a simple configuration switch I'm missing, or is it a "bug" or "feature"?

It's driving me nuts!

I see the same thing (12.20a). I can highlight backwards with the keyboard, but not with the mouse.

Are you sure you are using v12.20a? The developers were notified of this soon after releasing v12.20 and had fixed it in 12.20a. In fact, I'm able to highlight backwards with the mouse with no problems in 12.20a.

As a followup to my previous post, I highly recommend if you still see this anomaly to write to tech support with a report. This issue should have been fixed in 12.20a.

I'm using 12.20a.

If I select text in a line from left to right with the mouse, the window will scroll to allow me to select as much of the line as I want, even if part of the line is off the screen.

If I select from right to left with the mouse, selection stops at the left edge of the screen, with no window scrolling. I tried this on another computer with 11.20b and it worked properly in both directions.

Please write to support@idmcomp.com and let them know this is not working for you. You may want to include your settings and INI. I'm not sure why you'd be seeing this because as far as I know we haven't had any more reports of it.
