Consolas Font is always bold.

Display customization and font issues

Consolas Font is always bold.

Postby GMeditation » Wed Feb 14, 2007 6:00 pm

I'm getting a strange problem using the Consolas font provided by MS.

In Editplus the font displays correctly.
In Ultraedit, regardless of the syntax highlighting and font setting, Consolas always appears to be bold. Changing the setting to bold doesn't seem to change the appearance of the font.

In the system settings Cleartype is enabled. The fonts were installed before Ultraedit was installed. The problem persists when the font size is increased to 9, and anything bigger than that I may as well use Proggy Font (which works fine).

Wish I could help. Consolas displays normally on my system (12.20b+1), with the ClearType option checked.

Hmm, I'm using the same version as you.

Ah well no biggie :)

Edit : Fixed the problem! :)

Reinstalling the font seemed to make it go thin, but removed the anti-alias. Then I went into Configuration - Editor Display - Advanced, clicked the "Setting this may improved display issues with Cleartype fonts in XP" box, then moving the font quality all the way to best made it look like in Editplus :)
