Column/field number for CSV files, fixed header line

Postby smaug » Thu Feb 25, 2010 5:00 am

Hello,

is there any way to display the column number for CSV files in UltraEdit?
I mean the field number not the character number.

UltraEdit can do alot with columns, even has a column mode. I cannot see why it does not show the column number. Have I missed something?

No, UltraEdit is a text editor and not a spreadsheet application. It offers features for CSV and fixed column files, but it is nevertheless a text editor.

You can split the window into 2 panes and insert at top of the file a header line with the numbers or names for the data columns. As long as you scroll horizontally only with the scrollbar and not with the keys you can see always the data column number at top of your file. Don't forget to delete the first line before final save.
