Default compiler settings and windows XP 64bit

Postby sfennell » Mon May 08, 2006 3:20 am

It seems that the default compiler config files are designed to work with a standard windows OS setup. However, windows XP 64-bit has this sys6432wow registry key that gets placed on all paths that are installed for 32-bit programs. This means that the default paths in the compiler config files point to the wrong registry path, and thus the wrong bin/include/lib paths. With a bit of work I finally got them pointing to the right paths and building and compiling just fine. But IDM should be aware that their install doesn't support windowsXP 64-bit yet.

Please, could you write an email to IDM support and inform IDM about this issue and what exactly the installer must change on Windows XP 64 in the default compiler settings.

You can contact the IDM support at http://www.ultraedit.com/company/contact_us.html
