How to update UEX

Postby saibal » Fri Jan 22, 2010 5:19 am

Hi all,
I have UEX 1.0.0.13. Currently latest version is 1.1.0.0. How to update? Must I uninstall previous version? Or can I install new version directly on the old?

thanks

sudo dpkg -i uex_1.1.0.0_i386.deb

or as root without sudo. Over the old version, same for the tar.gz or rpm.

No need to uninstall in either of these distros:

If you use Ubuntu (Debian)-based Linux Mint 8, the UEx update is listed in its system update GUI and it's already pre-selected for upgrade. Neat.

In Mandriva 2010, download the updated Fedora 12 UEx package. Right-click on the downloaded file (eg, for 32-bit it'd be: UltraEdit-1.1-0.0.fc12.i686.rpm) and select *Open with Software Installer*. Done. (For initial install using Fedora package (instead of tar) on Mandriva 2010 see topic UEx Install on Mandriva 2010.0.
