Files marked with asterisk (*) on open

When I open any file it is automatically marked with an asterisk (*) in the tab top. Is there a way to have the asterisk appear AFTER the file has been edited and remain unmarked prior to that? I thought that was how V12 handled the updates. I am currently using v13.00+1.
With the file immediately starred (*), I think that I have made changes to the text and then unnecessarily save the file. Additionally, it now forces me to confirm Save on close even though the file was NOT modified. Please let me know if there is a setting I can change.

At Configuration - Editor - Word Wrap/Tab Settings are the settings

Default Word Wrap On for Each File
Wrap after column #, insert CR/LF
Automatically insert CR/LF when file is opened

specified at least for files with the extension java?
That would explain the automatical modification of every opened file.

Note: Everything you see below the file extension drop down list is only for what is shown in the list. Make sure you have only Default in the list by clicking on the down arrow key of the list to see all entries.
