How to open a text file in hex editor without opening in text editor first?

I have a large XML file that Ultraedit freezes upon opening. I would like to investigate the value of several bytes in the XML, which necessitates the hex editor. However, I have not found ways to open a text file in the hex editor without opening it in the text editor first. Is it doable?

Yes, with UE v14.10. There is the option Open as binary in the File - Open dialog to open any file in hex edit mode directly like binary files.
