Create new files in directory of active document?

Is there a way to get ultraedit to assign the document directory of a new buffer to the directory of the active document before you clicked "Create a new document" rather than use the "Default Open Directory"?

Clearing the Advanced > Configuration > Directories > Default Save Directory causes UE to begin following the last file open/save.

I, too, was annoyed I couldn't find an option for this behavior, until I found this information by searching the manual (available in the Downloads area) for "Save As".
