Automatic Indentation of XML

Postby Rudolf » Fri Jun 17, 2005 3:39 am

Hi,

Is it possible in Ultra Edit v11 to have Ultra Edit automatically tidy up and indent XML? The "tidy up" part can be handeled by HTML Tidy. I have XMLSpy which has a function "Pretty-Print XML Text" that automatically indents the XML so that it becomes more easily readable. Is there a similar option in Ultra Edit? Perhaps one can use HTML Tidy with special options for the indentation?

Regards

I'm curious about the same thing. I'm also not sure how to get HTML Tidy to pretty it up?

If you're still monitoring this thread, here's is an easy solution (using HTML Tidy as you suggested):

I've made a the following post in the scripts forum as an alternative means of pretty-printing your XML or for selectively formatting an XML fragment: Pretty-print XML
