This help topic applies to UltraEdit on Mac/Linux.The Encoding/Terminator branch under Preferences - File Handling has the following options:
Encoding Default encoding for open files (used when auto-detection fails) The dropdown associated with this option may be used to select the encoding to be used by default when opening files if the editor fails to automatically detect the proper encoding for the file being loaded.
Default encoding for new files The dropdown associated with this option may be used to select the encoding to be used by default when creating new files.
Default line terminator for new files Windows (CRLF) UNIX (LF) Classic Mac (CR) This setting determines the default file type for NEW files created within the editor. The default is for UNIX files. Alternatively a default of Windows or Classic Mac file types may also be selected. |
