Session Properties

The Session Properties dialog allows users to specify settings for an active or new session.  There are separate tabs for Text Mode , Binary Mode , and Folder Mode sessions settings.  

 

Common Settings

The following options are available under all tabs in the Session Properties dialog:

 

Session Name

If desired, the name of the session may be changed by the user here.

 

Group Name

If the active session belongs to an existing Group, that Group name will be displayed in this field.

 

OK and Run

If this button is pressed, the options selected for the session will be saved and the Session Properties dialog will be dismissed.  The modified session will immediately be launched and executed.  If the modified session is already open, it will be refreshed using the modified settings.

 

OK

Pressing OK will cause the modified session settings to be saved and will dismiss the Session Properties dialog, but this will not launch or execute the related session.

 

Apply

Pressing Apply will cause the modified session settings to be saved but will not dismiss the Session Properties dialog nor launch or execute the related session.

 

 

Text Mode Settings

Files

Users may specify the full paths to files to be compared in a session using these text fields.  If preferred the button may be pressed to present a dialog where users may browse to files on the local system.  If the button is pressed, the FTP Open dialog will be displayed allowing users to specify files to be opened via FTP from a remote server for comparison.

 

Compare options

The following compare options may be configured for each text mode session:

Relational lines mode

Word wrap

Line mode merge

Use character to character line comparison

 

Ignore options

The following ignore options may be configured for each text mode session:

Ignore blank lines

Ignore whitespace

Ignore case

Ignore line terminators

Ignore lines which... begin with / contain / end with

Ignore a defined number of lines at beginning / end of file

 

Compare / Ignore column ranges

Compare

Ignore

 

Display options

The following display options may be configured for each text mode session:

Mark empty lines

Show scaled map

Show tabs

Tab stop value

 

 

Binary Mode

Files

Users may specify the full paths to files to be compared in a session using these text fields.  If preferred the button may be pressed to present a dialog where users may browse to files on the local system.  If the button is pressed, the FTP Open dialog will be displayed allowing users to specify files to be opened via FTP from a remote server for comparison.

Fast binary compare

Smart binary compare

Display offset as decimal

 

Folder Mode

Folders

Users may specify the full paths to folders  to be compared in a session using these text fields.  If preferred the button may be pressed to present a dialog where users may browse to files on the local system.  If the button is pressed, the FTP Open dialog will be displayed allowing users to specify folders to be opened via FTP from a remote server for comparison.

 

Compare options

The following compare options may be configured for each folder mode session:

Basic (size and date only)

Full (byte-by-byte)

Smart (includes text compare with ignore options)

Text mode in result

Recursive compare

Use CRC compare

 

Ignore options

The following ignore options may be configured for each folder mode session:

Ignore folders/file types

Ignore timestamp differences

 

File Ignore Options

When this button is pressed, a dialog is displayed which may be used to modify file ignore options for the active session.

 

Filter options

The following filter options may be configured for each folder mode session:

Hide same files*

Hide different files

Hide common files*

Hide unique files

Hide same folders*

Hide different folders

Hide common folders*

Hide unique folders

 

*Same files and folders are files and folders that have the same name and the same contents, and/or date/time. Common files and folders are files and folders that have the same name but different contents and/or date/time.

 

Display options

The following display options may be configured for each folder mode session:

Display root directories

Show preview file
