UEStudio integrated development environment tour: column/block editing
The UEStudio tour is intended to guide you through some of the advanced IDE features of the application. UEStudio includes all of the features of UltraEdit, the world's best text editor, which are not covered here.
When column mode is selected in the column menu in UEStudio, highlighted text is based on the character column position of the first character selected to the column of the last character of text selected. Text selected in this mode does not automatically include all text between the start and end position (as in normal ASCII mode)..

but includes all text in the columns between the first and last character selected:

This powerful feature of UEStudio will enable you to select a block of text horizontally as well as vertically! This vertical selection ability is sometimes referred to as block mode editing as the act of selecting text forms a rectangle.
Column mode editing may be toggled by pressing the column mode toolbar button in the main toolbar or by selecting column mode in the column menu or by pressing ALT+C:

When column mode is enabled, additional column features are enabled; insert/fill columns, delete columns, cut columns and insert number. The standard cut, copy and paste will also work with the selected text.
Column mode editing does require that word wrap be turned off and a fixed pitch font be selected.
