New: CRC support for FTP folder mode compares

Have you wanted to do a quick folder compare between a local directory and remote directory - without downloading the files first? No problem... UltraCompare v7.20 now supports an FTP CRC compare method. With the CRC compare feature, UltraCompare will now compare a local/remote files using a CRC/Hash value rather than downloading files for local comparison (as long as the remote server supports CRC).

To enable CRC support in FTP folder compare, open the Session Properties dialog and check the "Use CRC compare" option. You can also set this as a session default in Options -> Configuration -> FTP.

If the FTP server does not support CRC, UltraCompare will prompt you and execute the compare with the last-used folder mode. Check out our power tip on this exciting new functionality!

Enhanced: Greatly improved display of folder mode

UltraCompare v7.20 boasts significant improvements to the layout and display of folder mode. The new draggable separator provides a way for you to visually differentiate between two (or three) folders. Additionally, with the column header improvements, you can now synchronize column widths or automatically resize column widths to fit content.

New: Hide files/subfolders in folder mode compare

Have you ever wanted to hide files/folders that aren't relevant for your immediate compare needs? We have... While UltraCompare offers many compare filters and ignore options, sometimes you just need more control. As of UltraCompare v7.20, you can now mark and hide files/folders on the fly. Simply highlight the files and/or folders you wish to hide, select "Mark" then right-click again to hide all marked files/folders.

Like UltraEdit and UEStudio, UltraCompare now provides full FTP account access through the file explorer in the Workspace Manager. Need to compare a file or folder from your remote server? No problem - just expand the FTP account in the explorer pane and then drag and drop the file/folder on the remote server into the appropriate compare pane.

New: Share FTP accounts between UltraEdit and UltraCompare

Need to add a new FTP account to UE and UC? With UC v7.10 you can now do this in one place with FTP account sharing. In order to use this feature, you'll need UC v7.10 and UE 16.00.

(This feature requires FTP account sharing be enabled in UE/UES. FTP account sharing in UE/UES will be available in future versions. When enabled this feature stores the FTP account and settings data at: %APPDATA%\IDMComp\Common\FTP Accounts.)

New: Workspace Manager including explorer window with drag-and-drop functionality

UltraCompare v7.00 boasts a new Workspace Manager which will eliminate the need to switch between UltraCompare and Explorer. The Explorer tab of the Workspace Manager provides the ability to browse your system. What's more, you can drag/drop files for quick and easy compare operations.

Like the other child windows in UltraCompare, the Workspace Manager can be docked in any area of the application, auto-hidden, or disabled completely.

New: Save your Sessions in Session groups

The Sessions list in the Workspace Manager is a powerful new feature that allows you to save, name, group, and manage your compare Sessions. This provides you the ability to quickly access and launch frequently-used Sessions - so you can spend more time working and less time configuring.

To organize your Sessions, simply right-click in the session list; a context-sensitive menu with several options will open. You can load a session, rename your session, manage your session groups, modify your session properties, and delete Sessions from this menu.

New: Session properties dialog

UltraCompare's new session properties dialog allows you to define the settings on a per-session basis. Gone are the days of manually setting/unsetting compare/ignore options - simply set your session options in the session properties dialog and forget it. When you close the session, UltraCompare will use your global settings again!

Improved: Full Unicode folder and file support

UltraCompare is now a fully-Unicode application, which means folder and file paths containing Unicode characters are fully supported. Additionally, the display and handling of Unicode/UTF-8 data is greatly improved in v7.

Improved: Full shell integration on 64-bit systems and Windows 7

Full Windows 7 and 64-bit shell integration support is now available in UltraCompare 7! Shell integration allows you to open and launch two or three way folder compares directly from Windows explorer, all in one step.
